Samvat 2079: Muhurat Trading in 2022

Samvat 2079: Muhurat Trading in 2022

The time of Diwali is important for all investors and traders in the share market.

It is the most important festival of the Hindu community, which is celebrated with great enthusiasm by people across the country.

Diwali is Hinduism's most significant festival, when people pray to Lakshmi for prosperity. Muhurat Trading 2022 is a day when all the traders plan their trading strategy for the upcoming year. It is a day when you make your own investment decisions and take the first step towards your financial freedom.

This is also a day when you can make some money in your account by investing wisely and making wise decisions.

What is Muhurat Trading?

According to Hindu astrology, muhurat is a time considered auspicious for starting something new or good. It plays an important role in all major events of our lives.

On Diwali, traders all over India come together to trade or invest money for the one-hour time.

Investing at the start of a new year, according to Hindu tradition, is believed by some astrologers (or fortune-tellers) to yield good returns.

The Indian stock markets are closed on Diwali but remain open for just one hour on that day, during the Muhurat Trading session. The next such trading session will take place on October 24, 2022.

On October 24, 2022, the Muhurat trading session will mark the beginning of Samvat 2079.

Every year, domestic markets hold a special one-hour trading session to mark the beginning of the traditional Hindu calendar year, called Vikram Samvat, on Diwali.

On this day, trading opens only for one hour during muhurat and typically consists of the following parts.

Block-deal session

During block-deal sessions, buyers and sellers reach agreements to buy or sell securities at a specific price. These deals are then updated on the exchange.

Pre-opening session

The pre-opening session lasts for only eight minutes and determines the equilibrium price.

Muhurat trading session

Trading happens during the one-hour session in which most major stock exchanges operate.

Call Auction session

It is a session during which transactions are made in thinly traded, less-liquid securities.

Closing session

Traders can place orders when the closing session begins.

Details of Muhurat Trading

According to the notice issued by BSE and NSE, trading in the equity and derivatives segment will start at 6:15 pm on Diwali (October 24, 2022) and end after an hour at 7:15 pm.

The pre-open session will begin at 6:00 pm and end at 6:08 pm. Matching timings on Muhurat Trading will start at 6:08 p.m.-6:15 p.m.. The modification in the call auction will be over by 7 :45 PM.

It is crucial to acknowledge that all trading that takes place during the sacred period will have to be settled at a later date.

Trading in the commodity derivative segment will begin at 6:15 pm and end at 7:15 pm. However, trade modification of call auction orders will be allowed up to 7:25 p.m.

Final Note

Trading during the Muhurat Trading hour is believed to bring fortune to those who believe in astrology. During this time, the markets are bullish and trading volumes remain high.

Both new and experienced traders can participate in the special Diwali trading session, which has a significant impact on trends.

Historically, the market has tended to close higher on Muhurat day. However, that does not mean you should necessarily trade during it.
